Research and Development Intern

AI Chatbot for Design for Manufacturability (Internship)
Worked in a 4 person inter-disciplinary team for the development of a machine learning-based AI assistant to automate information retrieval for manufacturability (DfM), achieving 63-87% faster search times. Engineered a complete RAG pipeline using OpenAI's gpt-4o-mini, integrated with LangChain and Chroma vector database.
"MyoGrip" EMG Prosthetic Hand
Designed a 3-phase development pipeline for a myoelectric prosthetic hand using surface EMG sensors and Raspberry Pi. Developed Python-based Machine Learning model with signal filtering to convert EMG signals into servo motor actuation with ~60% response accuracy.
Microneedle Insulin Delivery Model
Engineered a 2D COMSOL simulation for microneedle-based insulin delivery, capturing circadian drug kinetics and optimizing needle geometry. Designed 3 prototype arrays using boundary layer modeling and dermal and transdermal constraints; visualized insulin uptake efficiency via heat maps.

Coronary Stent Design and Analysis
Developed and evaluated three stent geometries (diamond mesh, auxetic, twisted-link) using SolidWorks and ANSYS. Simulated angioplasty loading conditions and vessel compliance via non-linear FEA; reduced peak stress regions by >20%. Compared materials nitinol, Ti-6Al-4V for fatigue life and radial strength.

PFA Catheter Design & Research
Conducted comprehensive industry research and design of Pulsed Field Ablation (PFA) catheters for atrial fibrillation treatment. Interviewed cardiologists, R&D engineers, and regulatory experts to develop novel flower-configuration catheter with contact-force sensors.
Finger Prosthesis Assembly
Designed and modeled a complete finger prosthesis assembly from scratch using 3D CAD software. Created custom-fitted components with variable lengths and sizes, demonstrating foundational prosthetic design skills and mechanical assembly principles.
